Paul Newman, Actor And Race Car Diver Dies At Age 83

According to reports by Los Angeles car accident attorneys, the legendary actor, racecar driver and entrepreneur of Newman’s Own food line has passed away after his battle with cancer at age 83. Its been reported that Newman passed away at his farmhouse outside of Westport Connecticut on Friday and was surrounded by family and friends.

Paul Newman will be remembered by many as the legendary actor of movies like Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Color Of Money, Exodus, the Sting and many other where he played the leading roll. Newman has over 50 movies to his credit, was nominated for 10 Oscar awards and won one along with two honorary awards.

He worked with Actors John Houston, Robert Redford, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and many others. The Actresses that Newman worked with were Lauren Bacall and Elizabeth Taylor, along with many others and directors like Alfred Hitchcock and Martin Scorsese.

While Paul Newman will be remembered by many for his movies, he will also be remembered by many racecar fans, because while acting was his career, racing was his true passion. Car racing became a hobby and passion for Newman after he had to learn how to race for a 1972 film “Winning” and found he really enjoyed the sport. He began racing on an amateur basis and won enough cups and trophies within the first five years that he was able to turn semi-professional.

In 1979 Newman and his racing team placed second in the Le Mans and he continued to race and in 1995 at age 70 he won the 24 hour Daytona Beach auto race. In August of 2005 Newman spoke with the media in Philadelphia while meeting with the city officials about bringing Champ Car series racing to the city of Philadelphia. Newman also set up teams of his own for Indycar and NASCAR racing.

Newman was born January 26, 1925 in Cleveland Ohio and was of German and Hungarian decent. He was named Paul Leonard Newman and in 1943 he enlisted in the Navy, where he could not become a pilot because he was colorblind. He instead served as a radioman on torpedo bombers. Once out of the Navy, Newman enrolled in Kenyon College in Ohio under the G.I. Bill and joined the football team. He was kicked of the team after a bar room fight for which he spent a night in jail. It was after this that he began his involvement in the theatrical department and graduated in 1949 with a degree in English.

Newman has also been a legend in Hollywood for his marriage to Joanne Woodward since acting together in the Long Hot Summer in 1958. When questioned about his long marriage he has been known to state “why have hamburgers when you have stake at home.” Newman was married prior to this marriage and had two daughters and a son, he and Woodward have three daughters.

Injured Metrolink Victims At Local Hospital

In the latest news in the September 12, 2008 Metrolink Accident, It has been reported that 14 of the crash victims from Friday’s Metrolink crash were taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

The conditions of the crash victims are reported as 7 patients are in stable condition and 5 are in serious condition. There is also one of the injured victims in critical condition at last report.

The Providence Holy Cross Medical Center planned a blood drive for Saturday afternoon to assist in the care of the Metrolink injured crash victims. This will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the medical center at 15031 Rinaldi Street, Mission Hills.  news personal injury attorney los angeles

String of Deadly Metrolink Accidents in California, Corona and Chatsworth

According to reports by Corona Metrolink accident lawyers, after the 4:20 p.m. double train crash that turned deadly for an unknown amount of passengers and countless injuries numbering as high as possibly 40 or more there was a second Metrorail crash.

This Corona Metrolink crash occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. in the Corona area in the vicinity of the 200 block of Sheridan Street. The Metrolink train equipped to carry 600 passengers was in route to Riverside at the time of the crash.

According to reports from Lt. Brent Coleman of the Corona Police Department a vehicle was traveling south on Sheridan Street when it apparently drove around the lowered railroad crossing arms and drove onto the tracks.

He went on to state that the driver a woman approximately 40 years of age appeared to have been trying to beat the train at the time of the crash and it was impossible for the engineer to see the vehicle.

The woman was the only occupant in the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident, the train was seven cars and was about 300 years from its next scheduled stop when the crash occurred.

LT. Coleman stated that vehicles should not try to beat trains because they will not win, he also said that one passenger from the Metrolink train was transported to the hospital for anxiety and there were no other injuries. Chatsworth Metrolink Passenger Train Crash Update

According to reports by Chatsworth train accident lawyers, more details that are emerging from Train, it is believed the Metrolink train was carrying as many as 350 passengers st the time of the crash with a freight train.

According to a statement by Byron Ward a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy, two people have been confirmed dead. The number of injured is still unknown at this time. There was not immediate count of injured metro link passengers available but according to Ron Haralson the County Fire Inspector there are certainly countless injuries.

Denise Tyrell spokes person for Metrolink the train had left from Union Station, downtown Los Angeles and traveling northwest to Moorpark in Ventura County. She state it is still unclear if the Metrolink train struck the freight train or if the freight train hit the Metrolink.

After firefighter began pulling passengers free from the car lying on its side that was separated from the other cars passengers were roaming about dazed according to reports.

Family Sues Toyota For SUV Rollover Fatality

According to reports by SUV Rollover lawyers, there has been a case filed in the California Superior Court in the county of San Bernardino by the law firm Bisnar Chase for the rollover death of Salvador Malchor. The law firm is representing Malchor’s wife in the case against Toyota, the suit claims that Malchor’s 2000 Toyota 4-Runner roof crushed due to an auto defect.

Malchors wife, Eustolia was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident which occurred July 18, 2007 when they were traveling on Highway 15 in the vicinity of Hermosillo Sonora and Mexico Nogales when the vehicle veered to the right, leaving the road. This is when Melchor turned left in order to correct the vehicle and this caused the vehicle to travel across the lanes of traffic striking the highway divider causing it to rollover.
