Students Struck By Hit And Run Driver—One Student Fatally Injured

According to reports by hit and run accident lawyers in LA, two USC students were struck by a hit and run driver, one student fatally injured.

Los Angeles Police Department Detective Jimmy Render stated that the two students were crossing the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Hoover Street in a designated crosswalk when a motorists ran a red light and struck the two students.

The students have been identified as Adrianna Bachan a resident of Santa Barbara, the 19 year old sustained fatal injuries. The student was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and was majoring in environmental studies. Bachan was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Crossing the street with Bachan was Marcus Garfinkle a resident of Scottsdale Arizona was seriously injured and was thrown on the hood of the vehicle.

Witnesses stated that Garfinkle was carried approximately 500 feet when a passenger got out of the vehicle and set him on the side of the road. Garfinkle was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition and suffered broken legs and a broken arm and underwent surgery. Garfinkle is a freshman at USC and a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department the couple were headed home from fraternity or sorority party at approximately 3:00 a.m. When a vehicle that has been reported as a dark colored Honda Accord that was in the eastbound lane on Jefferson struck them. The authorities are looking for a 1999 or 2002 black Honda Accord or a Toyota Corolla.

Irwindale 210 Freeway Eight Vehicle Crash Kills Two

According to reports by Los Angeles personal injury lawyer website, an eight vehicle crash on the 210 Freeway in Irwindale has left 2 dead.

Involved in the crash was a Foothill Transit bus, which collided with a car starting a chain reaction that also involved to trucks. The trucks spilled their contents onto the highway and it has been reported that there were no passengers in the Foothills Transit bus.

According to fire officials there were five people injured and one of the victims sustained critical injuries. There was a medevac chopper that landed on the 210 Freeway to assist the injured motorists. It was reported that Fire Inspector Frank Garido stated that one of the victims of the crash had to be removed from underneath of one of the trucks involved.

The crash occurred on the 210 Freeway at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes shutting all of the lanes down according to the California Highway Patrol Officer Edmund Zorilla east of the Irwindale exit.

The eight vehicle pileup closed the 210 Freeway in the eastbound lanes in the vicinity of Irwindale until approximately 3:30 p.m. when it was reopened and backed traffic up to the San Gabriel Valley.

Multi Vehicle Crash In Long Beach

According to reports by Long Beach car accident attorneys, a multi vehicle crash in Long Beach is being blamed on road debris.

According to the California Highway Patrol a multi vehicle crash occurred on the 405 Freeway at just prior to midnight, the authorities received a report at approximately 11:48 .m. about debris on the lanes of the freeway such as a barbecue grill and other household items. Just minutes after this report there was four car crash that occurred on the 405 freeway in the vicinity where the household items were located in the northbound lanes near Orange Avenue in Long Beach.

When the California Highway Patrol arrived the stated there were as many as ten cars involved in the collisions and the two northbound lanes in that area were closed at 12:13 a.m.

Long Beach firefighters were also called to put out a vehicle fire and two tow trucks were called to the scene of the crash and towed at least three vehicles from the accident site.

Charles “Mask” Lewis Killed In Newport Beach Car Crash

According to reports by Newport Beach injury lawyer website, a Newport Police officer witnessed the accident that took the life of Charles “Mask” Lewis.

The officer that saw the crash stated he witnessed a red Ferrari and a white Porsche both spinning out of control on Jamboree Road in the vicinity of Bison Avenue and East Bluff Drive at approximately 1: 00 a.m. Spokesman for the Newport Police Department Lt. Craig Fox stated the Farrari struck the curb and then struck a pole. The Farrari had been damaged in a way that it was split in half according to Lt. Fox.

Charles “Mask” Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, he was the co-founder of the mixed-martial-arts apparel company TapouT, which also sponsors fighters.

There was also a female passenger that was ejected from the vehicle during the crash; she was transported to the hospital. According to Lt. Fox the woman is in stable condition and the police have not determined with certainty which person was driving the Jaguar when it crashed.

Lt. Fox said that the white Porsche stopped at the scene of the crash and then fled the scene. The Porsche was later found by police on Bison Avenue where a man and woman were walking away from the vehicle. The car had moderate damage that was consistent with the car involved in spinout with the Jaguar.

The driver of the Porsche was identified as Jeffrey David Kirby age 51, a resident of Costa Mesa and was determined to be the driver of the Porsche. Kirby was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence. According to Lt. Fox his bail was set at $1 million dollars.

The passenger was identified as Lynn Marie Nabozny age 32 and a resident of Newport Beach, she was arrested for public intoxication. Lt. Fox stated she was released at approximately 7:45 a.m. and will not be formally charged.

According to Lt. Fox the investigation will continue and police have identified skid marks at the scene that are show the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash and the speed limit in that vicinity is 50 miles per hour.
