Highway 210 Crash Involves 3 Motorcycles—Injures 5

April 24, 2009 (by Otto Smyth) According to reports by motorcycle accident lawyers in Claremont, a crash occurred in the early morning hours injuring 5.

There was a collision between two vehicles and three motorcycles in in Claremont in the vicinity of Foothill Boulevard and Baseline Road according to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson Cheryl Sims.

The collision took place in the eastbound lanes at approximately 5:45 a.m. closing the eastbound lanes of Freeway the 210 while the wreckage was cleared. Traffic was rerouted to either Foothill Boulevard or Baseline Boulevard.

According to Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Steve Zermeno firefighters were called to the scene at about 5:40 a.m. There were five people were injured in the collision and two were airlifted to local hospitals. Three other people were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Officer David Porter of the California Highway Patrol stated the three right lanes of the 210 Freeway were reopened at approximately 7:40 a.m. after the scene of the crash had been investigated.

101 Freeway Pileup—One Woman Fatally Injured

April 16, 2009 (by Otto Smyth) According to reports a six-vehicle pileup on the 101 Freeway was fatal for one woman.

The pileup occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Lankershim Boulevard in the vicinity of Universal City.

According to police there were several of the motorists treated for minor injuries and one woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s identity has not been released, only her approximate age was released as being in her 50’s.

Another crash occurred in the same vicinity when a woman struck a Cal Trans vehicle in the southbound lanes. This occurred while the scene of the six-car pileup was being cleared. According to authorities the woman drove through cones that had been set up for the six-vehicle crash. She was taken to the hospital and expected to survive the injuries she sustained during the crash.

Weekend Collision Involves Speeding La Habra Police Vehicle—2 Fatally Injured

According to reports a LaHabra police vehicle was involved in a weekend accident that is now stirring up controversy.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Euclid Street and La Habra Boulevard, when a La Habra police officer was speeding to assist other officers pursue a person on parole that was wanted by the authorities. The police officers vehicle collided with a Chrysler PT Cruiser, at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The two people in the PT Cruiser were identified as Charles and Susanne Antuna, Susanne was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision and Charles Antuna was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead early Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Antuna were on their way to see their daughter sing in a church musical according to reports at the time of the Sunday early evening crash.

The California Highway Patrol have not released the name of the officer as their investigation is ongoing. They have reported that the officer was also transported to the UC Irvine Medical Center for treatment for injuries that included soft tissue injuries.

It has been reported that the California Highway Patrol stated there is evidence that the Antuna’s were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and witnesses stated the patrol car had its lights and sirens on. The police car went through the intersection colliding with the PT Cruiser head on and the PT Cruiser rolled over after impact into the police department parking lot.

The Antuna’s daughter Andrea Antuna has told television station KABC that witnesses had stated to here there were no sirens according to reports.

The man being sought by La Habra police was capture and has been arrested on suspicion of indirectly causing the Charles and Susanne Antuna’s death. This charge is allegedly for leading the La Habra police on a chase and he has been identified as Roary William Gorbea age 27.

Train Carrying Hazardous Materials Derails

According to reports a train carrying hazardous materials derailed into a local waterway.

Accourding to the Los Angeles Fire Department the two train cars derailed that were carrying an alcohol based material that leaked out of the containers and had been contained. The spokesperson also stated that no one was injured during the derailment.

Their were a total of five cars that derailed in the rail yard in La Mirada, which is approximately 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson the train cars belonged to BNSF, Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

Driver Wanted In Hit And Run Of Young Boy

According to reports by injury lawyers in Los Angeles, police are seeking a driver that struck a 6 year old boy and left the scene of the accident.

The hit and run occurred in the vicinity of Florence Avenue, near Figueroa Street, Monday morning when a driver of a 1986 gold Oldsmobile Cutlass struck the young boy.

The man that was driving the vehicle according to the boys brother got out of the vehicle and tried to take a cell phone that he was trying to use to get the license plate number of the vehicle. He man according to the boys brother got back into his car and took off leaving the scene of the accident, without giving his name or other information.

The child sustained a broken leg and other injuries; there is no other information about his condition at this time.

According to authorities the man was driving a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass with 22 inch chrome wheels and license plate number 2DBL949, the license plate was California issued. The man is described as a black male in his early 20’s and stands approximately five foot six inches. He is described as a slender male with tattoos on his face, neck and arms.

Pedestrians Struck By Vehicle Kills Two Near West Hollywood

According to reports by car accident attorneys in Los Angeles, a vehicle that struck three pedestrians kill two and left a third in critical condition.

According to d’Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department an accident occurred near West Hollywood in the vicinity of 7079 W. Fountain Avenue, near La Brea Avenue in which two women and a man were struck by a vehicle at approximately 6:25 p.m.

The vehicle struck them after colliding with another vehicle which sent it in the direction of the pedestrians that were in a crosswalk. The two women were killed and the man was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The man identified as 50 years old was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and placed in intensive care.

Sgt. Chris Tarter of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station stated there might have been three cars involved in the collision and the women age 65 and 50 both died from the injuries they sustained in the accident.

Sgt. Tarter also stated that the accident occurred where there was a red light camera that might help the investigation that is continuing.
