June 17, 2009 (by Horatio Agren) According to reports a woman was injured when the vehicle she was driving rolled over on southbound the I-5 Freeway.
According to reports by the California Highway Patrol the rollover accident in which a woman was severely injured occurred at approximately, 8:16 a.m. on the I-5 freeway, in the vicinity north of Ortega highway in the southbound lanes.
The woman injured was driving a gold Pontiac sedan when according to California Highway Patrol Officer Burchiga, witnesses stated the woman had swerved to avoid tire tread on the freeway. This caused her to lose control of the vehicle and the vehicle drove up a steep embankment. The vehicle rolled back down the embankment and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest on its roof in the number 4 lane.
Capt. Greg McKeown of the Orange County Fire Authority stated crews responded to the scene the accident and found that the woman had been pulled from the vehicle. The firefighters also pried open the vehicle in search of any other passengers in the vehicle, which included a child. The firefighters confirmed by the father that the child was in the care of the babysitter.
According to Officer Burchiga the woman that had been injured was disoriented, the officer assumed it was due to head injuries. The injured woman was taken to mission hospital and is said to have severe injuries the officer stated.

Highway Crash Shuts Down Lanes—Involved A Caltrans Vehicle
June 15, 2009 - According to reports a multi vehicle crash closed down northbound lanes on the 110 Freeway.
The multi vehicle collision occurred in the vicinity of Wilmington at Anaheim Street at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Harbor Freeway according to the Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman d”Lisa Davies.
According the California Highway Patrol the multi vehicle crash included at least two SUV’s and a Caltrans truck.

SUV Rollover Crash Fatal For Taft High School Student
June 8, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports an accident that occurred on the 110 Freeway involved eight Taft High School students and fatally injured one 16 year old student.
The rollover crash occurred at approximately 8:08 p.m. according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey on the southbound lanes of Harbor Freeway at Eight Street.
The crash involved a passenger vehicle and the SUV the eight Taft High School students were traveling in to the senior prom at the California Science Center. According to reports the 2003 SUV lost control in the vicinity south of Third Street and rolled over.
The student that sustained fatal injuries was thrown from the vehicle during the roll over; she has been identified as 16-year-old Jennifer Perla a Taft High School cheerleader. Perla was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The seven other teens in the vehicle were injured; they were transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center and California Hospital.
According to reports the 18-year-old driver identified as Kenneth Miller of North Hollywood was trying to avoid another vehicle when the SUV went out of control and rolled over.
The eight students were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and the SUV was not equipped with eight seatbelts.
