Two Accidents Cause SigAlert on I-5 Freeway

October 30, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports two separate accidents caused a SigAlert to be issued by the California Highway Patrol. According to the California Highway Patrol the SigAlert for the two separate accidents was issued at 11:22 a.m. and canceled at 12.34 p.m.

The first accident involved two vehicles and the backup from the accident according to the California Highway Patrol might have lead to the second four car crash.

The second car accident involved four vehicles and fuel was spilled on the connector road between the westbound 22 Freeway and the northbound I-5 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol officer Gabe Montoya stated that an ambulance responded to the scene of the accident, but the extent of any injuries was not known.

Anaheim Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck

October 26, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a woman was injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing an Anaheim Street.

The accident according to Anaheim police occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. in the vicinity east of Euclid Street on Crescent Avenue.The woman was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by a dark green Toyota Paseo , according to police.

The driver who remained on the scene was not cited for the accident and the woman that was injured was treated at the scene of the accident by Anaheim Fire Department paramedics. She was later transported to the hospital with unknown injuries according to police reports.

Fatality in Huntington Beach 6 Car Pileup

October 22, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a driver that was the first car in a six car pileup in Huntington Beach has died at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

The driver identified as Martin Espinoza age 55 a resident of Huntington Beach was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue according to police. The accident occurred when Espinoza was traveling northbound on Brookhurst Street in a 1994 Dodge Intrepid and failed to stop in time when approaching Adams Avenue. He struck the back of a Dodge Caravan driven by 38 year old Paige Beyer from Huntington Beach.

This crash caused a six car pileup that damaged all of the vehicles involved. Beyer was transported to Hoag Hospital where she was treated for pain in her arms and legs and released.

Espinoza was transported from the scene of the accident and died later at UCI Medical Center in Orange. According to police there were no other injuries in the other vehicles involved in the pileup. Car accident attorneys in Huntington Beach are bracing for this serious injury case.

Hit and Run Accident Leaves Woman In Critical Condition

October 21, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a 48 year old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Jim Amormino stated that Tuesday a 48 year old woman was struck by what is reported to be a medium blue pickup truck while crossing in a cross walk during rush hour. The accident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. while the woman identified as Zhen Huang was crossing five lanes on Magnolia Avenue.

Amormino stated that Huang was returning home from a walk when she was struck and that she was hit by the truck outside of the cross walk, causing the cross walk accident. Investigators believe from skid marks that the truck that was making a left turn from Pacific Avenue onto Magnolia Avenue was trying to beat a yellow light and was traveling at approximately 25 miles per hour at the time of the hit and run.

The estimated speed investigators were able to determine from skid marks on the road. It is reported that when Huang was struck by the truck she was dragged approximately 10 feet, and she was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police and the family are asking for any witnesses to come forward that have information about the accident. They do not have a description of the driver, but the truck was a late model, that is light blue full size pickup truck with a work rack in the back of the truck.

Fatal Crash on Toll Road Shuts Down Lanes

October 18, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a fatal accident closed the southbound lanes of the San Joaquin Hills 73 Toll Road. The accident occurred at approximately 6:24 p.m. in the vicinity north of Laguna Canyon Road in Irvine according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The identity of the 54 year old San Juan Capistrano man that was fatally injured in the crash has not been released according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office pending notification of his next of kin. According to the California Highway Patrol the south pound lanes of the San Joaquin Hills Toll Road were closed after the fatal accident, which is still under investigation.

Early Morning Rollover I-580 Crash—Driver Arrested For DUI

October 10, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports an early morning rollover crash in Oakland ended with the driver being arrested for DUI.

California Patrol Officer Ralph Caggiano stated that the accident occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m., when California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene of the accident. The vehicle involved in the accident was a gray four door Toyota Camry that reportedly rolled over several times after crashing in the eastbound lanes of Highway 580 in the vicinity of 98th Street, according to Officer Caggiano.

The Camry after crashing had two people trapped inside according to Caggiano and according to investigators the vehicle was stolen. The occupants trapped in the vehicle sustained cuts, bruises and had teeth knocked out according to California Highway Patrol officers and were transported to Highland Medical Center, where the driver was determined to be under the influence. The driver has been arrested for driving under the influence and the accident remains under investigation according to the California Highway Patrol investigators.

Fullerton Girl Struck By SUV On Way To School

October 8, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a Fullerton girl was struck by an SUV while walking to school.

The girl identified as a 12 year old and her friend were walking to the Ladera Vista Junior High School, located on Annin and Wilshire when the accident occurred, shortly before 8:00 a.m.

According to the friend’s mother Kathi Niehaus the girl stepped onto the street in order to keep from being hit by a sprinkler near the sidewalk. This is when the 12 year old girl was struck by a white Infinity SUV.

According to reports the girl was not seriously injured in the Fullerton SUV accident, and had her ankle splinted at the scene and was then taken to the hospital.

Man’s Identity Released After Deadly Weekend Accident

October 6, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a driver that was killed on I-5 has been identified as a Urbano Rodriguez age 23. Rodriguez a resident of Buena Park was fatally injured in an accident at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of I-5 in the vicinity of Ball Road in Anaheim.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Ray Paton, the 23 year old was driving a 1989 Nissan Altima in the No. 4 lane of the freeway when he swerved across the lanes to the right. The Nissan swerved in front of a grey 2003Toyota Camry and the driver identified as Joaquin Alvarado age 24 switched lanes to avoid a collision.

Rodriguez Nissan struck the landscaping and then swerved back to the left, striking the center divider and then colliding with Alvarado’s Camry. Alvarado stated that he was unable to stop and struck the right passenger side of the vehicle Rodriguez was driving according to CHP spokesman Payton.

The California Highway Patrol spokesman stated that Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and that the collision is under investigation.

Morning Nine Car Pileup In Garden Grove

October 6, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports there was a morning nine vehicle pileup that resulted in at least one injury.

According to injury lawyers in Garden Grove, authorities the nine car pileup occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. in the vicinity of Chapman Avenue and Ninth Street. The nine vehicle crash blocked traffic through the morning traffic hour.

According to a dispatcher, there was an ambulance that was dispatched to the scene and no serious injuries were reported. There was one person treated at the scene of the pileup for minor injuries, but was not transported to the hospital for further treatment.
