Zellweger Involved In Los Angeles Accident

January 30, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports actress Renee Zellweger was involved in an accident in the Palisades district of Los Angeles.

The actress was uninjured in the accident after parking her Toyota Prius on the roadside. When Zellweger opened the door of the vehicle another vehicle struck the driver’s side door.

According to reports Zellweger had opened the door to get in the vehicle when a woman driver in a BMW struck the Toyota damaging the door of the actress’s vehicle.
The unidentified woman was not injured in the accident.

Harbor Gateway Hit and Run Fatal

January 15, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a hit and run that occurred in Harbor Gateway was fatal to the woman that was struck.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Normandie Avenue in the vicinity of 223rd Street, when a 24 year old woman was struck and killed.
According to Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman of the Media Relations Section the preliminary report is the woman was in a passenger in a vehicle with three other women, when she complained of feeling ill. The driver stopped and the woman got out of the vehicle.

The 24 year old was struck by what is reported to be a gray minivan that did not stop and kept driving away from the scene. The driver of the minivan is being sought by police, according to Officer Eisenman.

The identity of the woman that was struck and killed has not been released pending notification of her family.

Six Car Pile Up—Driver Fleeing the Scene Shot By Police

January 12, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports the Laguna Beach Police shot a driver fleeing the scene of a early morning six car pileup.

According to investigators the six car accident occurred at approximately 7:55 a.m. and a male driver that was involved in the six car collision was shot by police as he tried to leave the scene. Lt. Jason Kravetz stated the accident occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway in the vicinity of St. Anns Drive and the man that was shot by the Laguna police officer was trying to drive down St. Anns Drive to leave the scene of the collision.

The man witnesses stated was driving a black Mitsubishi Lancer on the wrong side of the lanes on the Pacific Coast Highway and was running red lights from Dana Point to Laguna Beach prior to the crash.

The man was transported to Mission Hospital in Laguna Beach after being shot by police and was listed in critical condition. There were also two other injured accident victims that were transported to Mission Hospital.

Eastbound Crash Injures Woman

January 7, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a woman was injured in a morning collision on the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway several weeks ago.

According to authorities a women was injured in a morning collision when the Lexus SUV she was driving was struck by a Toyota Camry west of the southbound lanes of I-5 on the 22 Freeway.

According to reports the Santa Ana paramedics and Orange County firefighters responded to the scene of the accident. Where they had to remove the woman through the back of the vehicle due to her door jamming during the collision.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the person that reported the accident a white pickup truck and another vehicle were driving recklessly prior to the collision that was reported at approximately 8:01 a.m.

BMW Struck By Train Two Critically Injured

January 5, 2010 ( by Horatio Algren) According to reports two people in a BMW were critically injured when the vehicle was struck by a train.

According to Anaheim Sgt. Rick Martinez two Placentia men were critically injured in the morning when the BMW they were traveling in was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Train. The accident occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. and the train was traveling at about 45 to 50 miles per hour.

The 27 year old driver was traveling eastbound on Orangethorpe Avenue running alongside the railway tracks and turned right onto Tustin Avenue driving directly in front of the 3,700 pound train. Sgt. Martinez stated they believe the driver tried to go under the crossing arm when they were struck by the train.

The impact of the train critically injured both men, the passenger identified as a 37 year old man was extracted from the vehicle by 25 firefighters according to Capt. Greg McKenown of the Orange County Fire Authority. The men were transported to UCI Medical Center and listed in critical condition.

The accident closed the eastbound lanes of Orangethorpe from Chapman Avenue to Richfield Road and the southbound lanes of Rose Drive from Alta Vista Street were closed according to Sgt. Martinez. The identity of both men are being withheld until their next of kin are notified of their injuries.

Costa Mesa Woman Arrested After Single Vehicle Accident

January 4, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a Costa Mesa woman was taken into custody after driving a vehicle through a fence near an onramp of the northbound 405 Freeway.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada the accident took place in the vicinity of the Fairview Road onramp to the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway.

The woman according to Officer Quesada veered off of the roadway and though a fence bordering the onramp, and also struck the carpool entrance light knocking it over.
California Highway Patrol officer Eric Fan placed the woman under arrest after administering a field sobriety test. According to Officer Quesada the charges against the female driver are not known at the present time.
