According to the California Highway Patrol there were three people fatally injured in an accident that occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Sunday on U.S. 101 in Los Angeles.
The accident occurred in the Sherman Oaks district when the three people that had been involved in a crash on the Southern California freeway were exchanging information and were struck by another vehicle. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin the three were struck by a 2000 BMW, there were two men and a woman killed, along with another man that was injured.
The traffic on U.S. 101 eastbound lanes were closed with the exception of one lane for several hours after the accident. San Diego 405 Freeway Crash Involving Police Car Ends in Fatality
May 3, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a woman died after a crash on the San Diego 405 Freeway. The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the San Diego 405 Freeway in the vicinity of Devonshire Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman that was fatally injured was thrown from her Toyota pickup landing in the southbound lanes of the freeway. Involved in the collision was a sheriff’s police car with two on duty sheriff’s deputies that were injured in the crash. There were two other people involved in the collision that were also injured according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to Los Angeles Firefighters they reported one fatality at the scene of the crash, along with one woman and three men that were transported to area hospitals.
According to Sgt. John Kepley of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau the two sheriff’s deputies involved in the collision were assigned to a specialized unit at the Lennox Station and were in a marked patrol car at the time of the accident. One of the deputies was treated and released from the hospital after the collision and the other deputy was hospitalized.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Krystal Carter the two southbound lanes where the woman was fatally injured that had been closed reopened at approximately 5:00 a.m. the northbound lanes of the San Diego 405 Freeway where the collision occurred reopened at approximately 6:25 a.m. The car crash is still under investigation according to CHP Officer Carter.
