September 12, 2011 - According to reports a man was fatally injured during a car crash that resulted in him being pinned between two vehicles. According to the Irvine Police Department a 77 year old man was fatally injured Monday morning when he became pinned between two vehicles. The crash was reported to police at approximately 7:13 a.m. and occurred in the vicinity of the Summit Park and View Terrace Stone intersection.
Irvine Police stated the man had been involved in a minor crash with a gardening truck that was parked, when he got out of the vehicle to inspect possible damage and exchange information. The 77 year old man was struck by another vehicle causing him to become pinned.
The driver of the second vehicle that crashed causing the man to become pinned between the vehicles was only identified as a 16 year old driver, according to Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen regarding the Irvine CA auto accident.
Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Marc Stone stated the crash caused the man to be severely injured. Paramedics treated the man including performing CPR prior to transporting him to an area hospital. The man succumbed to his injuries a short time later and was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name has not been released pending notification of his next of kin, according to Irvine Police Department Lt. Engen.
