Steps To Take After a Car Accident to Protect Your Rights
Steps to take after a car accident to protect your rights, can assist the car accident injury attorney in building a solid case. It doesn't matter where a car accident occurs, statistics prove that almost every driver will be involved in an accident and this includes drivers in Sunset Beach, California.
• Step one: the first and most important thing is to take stock of the situation, the police should be called and an accident report should be filled out. The next most important thing is if you have been injured be transported to the hospital for treatment and if you believe that your injuries are not severe seek medical treatment anyway. Not all car accident injuries are apparent immediately after the accident.
• Step two: collect information, this means obtain a copy of the police report from the accident. Take pictures at the scene of the accident possible, even if it means using a cell phone, these can be important at a later date. Collect the name, address, telephone number and insurance information of the other driver. Collect names, addresses, and telephone numbers of any witnesses to the accident. If you have been injured and are unable to do this, any passenger in the vehicle should collect this information and take pictures.
• Step three: contact your insurance company or agent to alert them that you have been in an accident. When you do this do not admit fault to your insurance company and do not speak with the other driver’s insurance company.
• Step four: Hire a Long Beach car accident attorney, which means they will handle the legal part of the car accident and they will protect your rights to compensation. There is nothing better that the other insurance company likes, than the car accident injured victim that believes they can handle their own accident claim.
And you will need a Los Angeles car accident attorney. This is because they have strong arm tactics that will allow them to pay a lower amount of compensation. In some cases they will even tell the injured victim from what they see in the police report they are not entitled to any compensation. The car accident attorney will not fall for this like the injured victim might, they will aggressively pursue the insurance company and prove in court that they are responsible and win an award of compensation that will pay for medical bills and other finical costs incurred. That is why steps to take after a car accident to protect your rights are important.
