One Pedestrian Dead—7 Year Old Critical—Police Looking for Hit and Run Driver
April 22, 2012 - According to reports police are searching for a hit and run driver that killed one person and critically injured a 7 year old girl in South Los Angeles. According to the Sheriff’s Department the hit and run accident occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Watts Avenue and Santa Ana Boulevard in Willowbrook.
Police said a man and 7 year old girl were crossing at the intersection inside of a crosswalk at the time they were struck by the hit and run driver. The vehicle involved in the hit and run has been identified as a white Cadillac Escalade, sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s officials said the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the hit and run. The 7 year old girl was transported from the scene, to an area hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
Sheriff’s officials said the driver of the Cadillac Escalade has been described as a heavy-set Hispanic man, with short hair and a goatee. They said the Escalade would be missing the Cadillac emblem and is believed to have damage to the front end, including flaking paint.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the deadly hit and run accident to contact the California Highway Patrol or call Crime Stoppers.
