Police Looking for Man that Fled the Scene of a Crash that Injured a Woman and her Child

May 6, 2012 - According to police they are looking for a man that struck a woman and her child causing both to be injured. According to the Los Angeles Police Department the accident occurred Friday night on Broadway Street and 41st Street in Los Angeles. The LAPD said the woman and her child were crossing the street when they were struck by a silver 1991 Toyota Previa that was traveling north on Broadway. The woman identified as a 57 year old and her 5 year old son were seriously injured when they were struck. Los Angeles police said the driver, identified as Steve Smith age 43 of South Los Angeles stopped briefly after hitting the woman and her son and then fled. Police said Smith did not render aid to the woman or her child and did not identify himself. The LAPD say that Smith is approximately 5 feet, five inches tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police are asking for anyone with information about Smiths whereabouts to contact them.
