Multi-Vehicle Injury Crash on the 57 Freeway Backs Up Morning Traffic

January 31, 2012 - According to reports by a Los Angeles personal injury attorney at Ehline Law Firm PC, a multi-vehicle crash on the 57 Freeway tied up morning traffic and injured at least one person. According to the California Highway Patrol the collision occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. and involved three vehicles on the 57 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol Officer P. Gomez said three vehicles were involved in the collision in the vicinity of Lambert Road, blocking the three left lanes. Officer Gomez stated the collision involved a Mazda, a Ford pickup truck and a BMW. The Mazda it is believed veered toward the left, while traveling southbound and stuck the Ford pickup.

The force of the impact caused the truck to hit the BMW, officer Gomez said.
The Ford pickup then crossed all lanes toward the right shoulder of the 57 Freeway and went down an embankment. Officer Gomez said the impact caused the BMW to hit the center divider, causing one person to be injured. The person was transported to an area hospital, with unknown injuries, that were believed to be minor.

According to the California Highway Patrol the three southbound lanes of the 57 Freeway were clear by approximately 6:08 a.m.

Four Year Old Injured in Hit and Run---Police Searching for Driver

January 26, 2012 - According to reports police are searching for the driver of a hit and run accident that injured a four year old.

According to police the accident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. at South Avenue 54 and South Terrace 52nd Street in Highland Park. The four year old that was struck by the vehicle described as a 1999 or 2000 white Ford F150 was seriously injured, when family members say he ran out into the street. The boy was transported to USC County Medical Center.

According to the child’s uncle Julian Ramirez the driver stopped for a few seconds before speeding away from the scene. The driver police say has been described as a man wearing a baseball cap and driving a white Ford F150 pickup truck with pink taillights and a camper shell.

Man Killed in Hit and Run Accident in San Bernardino

January 24, 2012 - According to reports a man was killed in a hit and run accident Sunday. According to the California Highway Patrol a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and found lying on the side of San Bernardino Avenue in the vicinity of Commerce Street in Fontana at approximately 3:35 a.m.

The San Bernardino Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident as Victor Joseph Scallo age 44 of Huntington Beach.

The California Highway Patrol is currently searching for the driver that struck Scallo, killing him and leaving the scene of the crash. They stated that no witnesses have come forward in the incident.

Wet Roads Blamed for Multiple Crashes

January 23, 2012 - According to reports wet roads have been blamed for multiple Monday accidents in the Brea area.

According to Fullerton Police Lt. Lorraine Jones there were multiple Monday morning accidents in the county due to wet roads. A 12:30 a.m. crash involving a BMW crashed into the center divider on Bastanchury Road in the vicinity west of State College Boulevard. Firefighters had to cut off the driver’s side door of the vehicle in order to extract the driver that was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

California Highway Patrol Officer R. Gonzalez said at approximately 7:10 a.m. there were reports of two separate accidents in the vicinity north of Tonner Canyon Road. One report was the driver of a Honda Accord that slid causing the vehicle to go up an embankment and rollover. The second accident involved a Ford Escape that crashed on Brea Canyon Road. CHP officer Gonzalez said both drivers were traveling to fast for roadway conditions.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 10:30 a.m. a collision occurred on I-5 involving a big rig and two vehicles in the northbound lanes. The crash blocked the No. 3,4 and 5 lanes of the freeway.

Woman Killed in Crash After Husband Fell Asleep Driving

January 19, 2012 - According to reports a woman was killed when her husband fell asleep driving.

According to Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Kurt Smith, the accident occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Vanowen Street, in Canoga Park.

Sgt. Smith said the vehicle was traveling west on Vanowen Street when the man fell asleep driving and hit a parked car and then smashed into a tree.

The man has been identified as Leonides Ricalde, who was driving the couple home after working the graveyard shift.

The wife, whose name has not been released was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Ricalde and a bystander pulled the woman out of the vehicle.

According to Sgt. Smith, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the cause of the crash.

Fatal Collision on the 22 Freeway Results in DUI Arrest in Garden Grove

January 17, 2012 - According to reports a fatal collision that occurred on the 22 Freeway in Garden Grove resulted in one driver being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the California Highway Patrol the collision occurred on Sunday in the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway from the I-405 southbound lanes at approximately 7:00 p.m. The California Highway Patrol said three vehicles were involved in the collision, a Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla and a Jeep Liberty.

The driver that was pronounced dead at the scene of the car crash was identified as Aida Gonzalez age 53, who was driving the Toyota Camry and stopped on the inside shoulder of the divider that separated the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway from the southbound lanes of the I-405.

The Corolla was struck by the Toyota Corolla that was traveling in the No.1 lane and swerved to the left for unknown reasons, hitting the back of the Corolla. The impact sent the Camry spinning into the path of an oncoming Jeep Liberty, according to the California Highway Patrol.

California Highway Patrol officials said the driver of the Liberty slammed on their breaks, but could not avoid the collision. The driver of the Corolla was identified as Charline Vilchis age 21 of Long Beach, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the Orange County Coroner’s Office, Gonzalez was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. Garden Grove personal injury attorneys will provide updates as details come in.

Solo Vehicle Crash Kills Three in Paramount

January 13, 2012 - According to reports three people were killed in a solo vehicle crash in Paramount.

According to authorities the solo vehicle accident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Downey Avenue and Summerset Ranch Road in Paramount. The accident police said was caused when the vehicle that they believe was traveling between 90 and 100 mph struck a curb, hit a light pole and then struck a fire hydrant. The vehicle identified as an SUV burst into flames.

Police stated that there were six people inside of the vehicle and five of the six people were ejected during the ejection car crash. Three of the people were men and three were women and reportedly friends, police said, with investigators saying that they were in their 20’s and 30’s.

Three people traveling in the vehicle were killed in the crash, including the driver, police said. Police said that it is unclear if alcohol played a role in the crash and it is difficult to know if the people in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

According to police the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Paparazzi Files Lawsuit Against Lindsay Lohan For Injuries in Car Accident

January 11, 2012 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a paparazzi has filed a lawsuit against Lindsay Lohan for injuries suffered in a car accident.

According to reports photographer Grigor Balyan has filed a lawsuit against Lindsay Lohan for injuries that were suffered in a January 2010 accident. According to Balyan’s attorney Neil Steiner, Balyan was struck by a car driven by Lohan’s assistant when she was leaving a club. Steiner stated that Lohan is named in the lawsuit because, while she was not the driver, she was directing the driver.

Balyan who attempted to settle with Lohan’s insurance company is asking for reasonable compensation for orthopedic and neurological injuries that he suffered.

Vehicle Crashes Through Doughnut Shop Injuring One Person

January 10, 2012 - According to reports one person was injured when a car crashed into a doughnut shop.

According to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Marc Stone the accident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. in the vicinity of the intersection of Western Avenue and Katella Avenue in Stanton.

Capt. Stone said it is not clear what caused the vehicle to crash into the shop and it is still under investigation. According to Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Roland Chacon said that Lori Wertz age 53 and a resident of New Mexico turned into the parking lot of the doughnut shop and drove into the building. Lt. Chacon said they are unsure why she was unable to stop.

Lt. Chacon stated that a male customer in the doughnut shop was injured when the vehicle crashed into the building. Capt. Stone said the man sustained a large cut to his right forearm and was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment. He stated that the driver was shaken up in the crash, but was uninjured.
The driver was not cited in the crash, until the investigation determines that she should be, according to Lt. Chacon.

Elderly Driver Dies After Orange Collision

January 7, 2012-According to reports an 85 year old man died from injuries he suffered in a collision on Friday.

According to Orange Police Sgt. Dan Adams the collision occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. when the elderly driver turned off of Santiago Canyon Road in the eastbound lane into the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. The man was identified by the Orange County Coroner’s office as Guillermo Preciado age 85 of Santa Ana.

Preciado was driving a Toyota Camry that was struck by a Honda Accord that was traveling westbound on Santiago Canyon Road. Sgt. Adams stated that Preciado was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died several hours later from the injuries he suffered during the collision.

Investigators were notified of the 85 year olds death by the Orange County Coroner’s Office at approximately 8:00 p.m. The Orange Police Sgt. said that it is not clear if Preciado’s death was caused by the injuries or a medical condition.

Stand-Up Comic Killed and Another Seriously Injured by Suspected Drunk Driver

January 5, 2012 - According to reports one standup comic was killed and another seriously injured in a crash by a suspected drunk driver.

According to police the accident occurred on January 3rd at approximately 12:40 a.m. at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue. Police stated that the Hollywood collision caused fatal injuries to stand-up comedian Angelo Bowers and seriously injured comedian Josh Adam Meyers. Bowers was transported from the scene of the crash to an area hospital where he died a few hours later.

Meyers is still hospitalized and recovering from his injuries. The driver identified as a 21 year old that was driving under the influence of alcohol struck a second car approximately five minutes after the first crash on Vine and Yucca Streets. The drunk driver and the driver of the other vehicle were seriously injured.

According to police the driver is expected to be charged with driving under the influence and the death of Angelo Bowers, when he recovers enough to be charged.

Orange County DUI Arrests Higher During New Years than in 2010-2011

January 2, 2012 - According to reports by the Los Angeles bus accident attorneys at Ehline Law Firm PC, the number of DUI arrests was higher for this New Year’s than it was during the same period over the 2010-2011 holiday period.

According to the California Highway Patrol the number of suspicion of driving under the influence arrests in Orange County was up this year over the previous New Year’s. Between Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 6:00 a.m. the California Highway Patrol logged 57 arrests for suspicion of driving under the influence. That number is up from the same period during the 2010-2011 New Year’s holiday period when there were 20 fewer DUI arrests made.

According to the California Highway Patrol there were 932 DUI arrests made statewide and 12 deaths. No traffic related deaths have been reported in Orange County. During the 2010-2011 holiday period the California Highway Patrol stated there were 873 arrests made.

Skateboarder Dies From Injuries in New Year’s Eve Hit and Run Crash

January 1, 2012 - According to reports a 19 year old skateboarder died from injuries suffered during a New Year’s Even hit and run crash.

According to the Lake Elsinore Police Department the crash occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Lakeshore Drive in Lake Elsinore.

Police stated that the 19 year old was riding his skateboard westbound on Lakeshore Drive when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The 19 year old that has not been identified suffered traumatic head injuries and multiple fractures when he was struck, according to the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he died from the injuries he sustained in the crash on New Year’s Day.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department is asking for help from the public in finding the vehicle and driver that struck the skateboarder. They urge anyone with information to contact the Lake Elsinore Police Department.
